Dear Sir/Madam:

PG&E is today issuing a Request for Information (“RFI”) to identify partners for potential projects to demonstrate technologies that could cost-effectively produce significant quantities of biomethane (i.e. pipeline-quality methane derived from biomass).

Phase I of this RFI seeks to help PG&E identify these technologies, understand the market needs for support, and describe an appropriate role for PG&E. Phase II seeks to obtain more detailed, validated information from development teams and host facilities to realistically assess potential demonstration projects. The RFI and supporting information can be found online at: http://www.pge.com/rfi.

On Wednesday, March 5, PG&E will hold a Biomethanation Networking Forum in its San Francisco auditorium to discuss the RFI and provide a networking opportunity for potential Phase II project partners. Please use this form to register for the Forum by February 22, 2008: http://www.pge.com/pipeline/rfi/rfirsvp.pdf

PG&E has also established a webpage, http://www.pge.com/rfilist, to facilitate formation of development teams in advance of the Networking Forum. If you would like to add your organization’s contact information to this webpage, please submit the form provided online.

We welcome your participation in this RFI and look forward to learning about how your organization can contribute to the commercialization of cost-effective biomethanation technologies in California .

Sincerely,

Marc Kolb, Senior Product Manager, Gas Transmission & Distribution, PG&E

Xantha Bruso, Climate Protection Policy Specialist, Environmental Policy, PG&E
