BPA Responds to Misinformation about AB 222

E-mail Print PDF
Californians Against Waste ("CAW") is a Sacramento lobbying organization that represents the traditional recycling industry, which is sending recyclable materials to China, India and Nigeria, where there are few, if any, environmental controls.  Rather than producing recycled products for return to the United States, much of this material is being combusted to produce electricity and heat for the local market.  In order to preserve this industry's exclusive access to California's recycling market, CAW has been circulating misinformation about AB 222, which will expedite the production of renewable energy from California's post-recycled municipal wastes, i.e., those materials that are now being placed in landfills. Therefore, the BioEnergy Producers Association has published a white paper comparing statements taken directly from the CAW website with the facts about this bill's content and intent, as approved by the Assembly.  CLICK HERE to read CAW Myths vs. AB 222 Facts
